We just spent 4 days and 3 nights in Myrtle Beach with the family. It was everyone’s first time going so we had no idea what to expect. I must say I was pleasantly surprised on the amount of activities that were available, especially for children. Myrtle beach can absolutely be a college/ young adults trip if you room and go to certain areas. However, on this post I’m going to go over where we stayed at and went for a more kids friendly stay.
After an 18 hour road trip, (see my previous post) we finally arrived to our destination. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Club Vacation South Beach Resort. It is located in a quieter area of the strip with just a few other larger family friendly resorts as neighbors.
The rooms were not regular styled hotel rooms. Instead, they are more like little villas with a kitchen, living room, balcony and dining area. Depending on what you choose it could either be a suite kind of room up to a 3 bedroom villa.
The Resort was very well-kept and had plenty to do, with multiple swimming pools, jacuzzis, bars, billiards room, sauna, gym, ping pong table and even a small lazy river. They’re currently in the process of building a new water feature with slides etc..
Right across the street, not even a five minute walk from our room, was the beach club.
You went in through a private fence, and there was a pool right in front of the beach. We didn’t get the chance to go upstairs but was told there was a lounge area, bathrooms and a game room.
Right across the bridge was the beach, which felt a little more private.
We loved lounging next to this river of fresh water going into the ocean. And the kids enjoyed playing in it and looking for little guppies.
Right next to us was a water sport business offering banana boats, Jetski, parasailing, etc.. The adults went on the Jet ski and the children went on the banana boat with two of the adults.
There are also an abundance of restaurants, souvenir shops and stores right near where we were staying. Also it seemed that every half a mile to a mile there was a unique and themed mini golf business. We also saw zip lining, helicopter rides and so much more. We couldn’t pass on the helicopter ride so we decided to do that.
The helicopter rides were about 5 minutes long and it went over the beach and hotel strip. There was no age limit and the small children can even sit in the front.
It was such an awesome experience and probably the most memorable part of our trip!
At night we went to Broadway at the Beach in Celebrity Circle. Think Disney Springs with less entertainment but a whole lot more activities offered. This place was huge and even after going two nights in a row, we still didn’t get to see everything.
Overall it was a wonderful stay and we all said we wanted to go back again soon. This time more than 3 nights as we tried to squish in as many things as possible but still didn’t have enough time to do everything.
