How To Make Chocolate Covered Pretzels

My sister and I make Valentine’s Day goody bags every year for our kid’s classmates. This year I wanted to try something different, so we decided to make Valentine’s Day themed chocolate covered pretzels.

I really like how they came out and decided to write a tutorial on how we did them. Not only do they make a cute and delicious Valentine’s Day treat, but they are also great for parties. You can make them in any color scheme and even use molds for different themes. The molds can be purchased at party stores, crafts stores and Amazon. They are perfect for candy buffets and party souvenirs. Read below for my tutorial.

What you will need:

Chocolate Melt

Pretzel sticks

Tall cup

Sprinkles

Candy (if desired to decorate)

Wax Paper

Plastic baggies specifically made for Pretzels (not necessary if using for candy buffet)

Ribbon

Step 1: Melt the chocolate in the microwave in a bowl or a tall cup. Microwave only 30 to 60 seconds at a time, move the chocolate around with the spoon and place in the microwave again until melted. Be careful not to leave it for too long or the chocolate will burn. Also, the white chocolate requires lower heat than the colored chocolate.

Step 2: Dip the pretzel stick into the cup and twirl it around.

Step 3: Place the chocolate covered pretzel on the wax paper.

Step 4: Decorate the pretzel to your liking. Don’t wait too long to do this step as the chocolate will harden quickly and then the sprinkles will not stick.

You can also do a swirl design with a different color chocolate melt. To do this, simply dip the spoon into the chocolate and wiggle it over the pretzel.

Step 5: Once the chocolate is dry, use a knife to cut the edges around the pretzel for a more clean look.

Step 6: Place the pretzels into the pretzel bags and use ribbon to tie them.

Step 7: After your little one has sign his/her name to the Valentine’s Day cards, hole punch the card and tie it to the ribbon. Use the edge of the scissors to curl the ribbon.

So that was it. Simple, cute, inexpensive and yummy! The kids really enjoyed helping us decorate them and are excited to bring them to their friends.
